Weekly Roundup #8
Water Signs, Death and Rebirth; Saturn Leo and Controversy; The Current Moment (Neptune Pisces and Pluto Capricorn)
Entree.
1.
"Plausible deniability" is Piscean.
2.
The Signs on each line share the following trait:
Virgo-Scorpio-Capricorn = External Mastery
Scorpio-Capricorn-Pisces = Self-Mastery
Capricorn-Pisces-Taurus = Self-Sufficiency
Pisces-Taurus-Cancer = Inward Sensitivity
Taurus-Cancer-Virgo = Domesticity
Cancer-Virgo-Scorpio = External Sensitivity
How are you grouping them?
The first and last sextile the middle. Virgo and Capricorn sextile Scorpio, and so on. The common quality is one reason why they support each other (as the Sextile is a helpful relationship between Signs).
Combine them for a single Sign:
Capricorn = External Mastery + Self-Mastery + Self-Sufficiency
Pisces = Inward Sensitivity + Self-Sufficiency + Self-Mastery
What’s the difference between external sensitivity and inward sensitivity?
Sensitivity to things' external details vs. Sensitivity to their inner nature and your deep reaction towards them.
Are these what the signs are good at, or what they should strive for?
Both.
Main.
Water Signs, Death and Rebirth
Fallout: New Vegas and The Revenant starring Leonardo DiCaprio came out with Mars and Venus Scorpio respectively, and both revolve around protagonists who come back from the brink of death to seek revenge. Similar with Kung Fu Hustle (also Mars Scorpio). DiCaprio himself has Mars Scorpio...
All the Water Signs have something to do with death & rebirth. Scorpio is reborn by fighting on through the depths until it's crushed out of existence, almost destroyed. Then it regenerates from its remains, takes on an entirely new form... its death gives it some kind of occult power, incomprehensible to others. Figuratively or literally.
Scorpio is always seeking something to destroy it, so it can become stronger. It is always seeking discomfort and excess so that it can die and be reborn. Pisces is different. Pisces melts away and becomes other than itself, lines in the sand erased by the oncoming tide.
Pisces becomes alien to what it was, leaps out the back of itself in a moment of psychedelic contemplation, finds the subtlest contours of its being in the dark and silence. It weeps and turns to water, becomes the other person, absorbs their pain into itself and finds itself new.
Cancer becomes uncomfortable. The certainties it clings to change. It must seek them anew in isolation. It makes itself perfectly vulnerable, perfectly open. Outer dormancy and inner torment. Eventually a new certainty, a new mode is established and pursued with the same intensity and tenacity with which the old one was. Cancer tightens its grip on that certainty until it's firm enough that it can show itself to the outside world secure in itself, rooted, unshaken.
Failed Cancers never change. They outgrow their shell and remain an uncomfortable combination of both rigid and sensitive. Infantile and inflexible. The worst of both worlds. The failed Cancer simply accumulates pain. The pain drives it deeper inside itself, makes it less willing to change, to abandon its few certainties, which causes it to suffer more. It becomes more cramped, less and less able to act, unless it realises there is no choice BUT to change.
Saturn Leo and Controversy
Kanye West has Saturn Leo, which makes people honest (sometimes to a fault). Square Uranus Scorpio, it makes that honesty shocking, aggressive - "George Bush doesn't care about black people," etc.
Larry David has Saturn Leo as well, and the whole of Curb Your Enthusiasm revolves around him displaying this weird mix of cowardice, solipsism and willingness to stand up for his values even if everyone hates him for it (and they do, as a rule):
David Bowie had Saturn Leo, as did Hitler himself. Larry David and Kanye West have gotten into hot water for saying Hitler wasn't all bad. But do I hate Saturn Leo? No. Do I then LOVE Hitler? Also no. I am simply observing a clear pattern...
Quoth David Bowie:
“Rock stars are fascists. Adolf Hitler was one of the first rock stars. . .Look at some of his films and see how he moved. I think he was quite as good as Jagger. It’s astounding. And boy, when he hit that stage, he worked an audience. Good God! He was no politician. He was a media artist. […] People aren’t very bright, you know? They say they want freedom, but when they get the chance, they pass up Nietzsche and choose Hitler because he would march into a room to speak and music and lights would come on at strategic moments. It was rather like a rock ‘n roll concert. The kids would get very excited — girls got hot and sweaty and guys wished it was them up there. That, for me, is the rock ‘n roll experience.”
Bernhard Goetz, Saturn Leo, shot 4 thugs on the New York subway. He believed they could have killed him otherwise. He broke the law. After going into hiding, he handed himself in to police and provided a full justification for his actions. Leo is honest.
He is a 37-year-old balding man. And yet, he looks fantastic. Saturn Leo is often born without the trappings of glory - or with more than it knows how to handle - and yet, through exceptional deeds, it acquires them. There is something titanic about him. He stands for something.
Saturn Leo is polarising: Many regarded Goetz as a hero defending the right of the individual to defend himself (against the backdrop of the corrupt and broken New York police force). Some hated him and regarded him as a brutal vigilante…
The fact that Hitler, a Saturn Leo, is popularly regarded as the most evil man of all time (moreso a few decades ago) - this is no coincidence! Saturn Leo causes one's idea of The Good to differ radically from that of most people, though others can be brought around to it.
And, insofar as one differs and is not accepted, insofar as he is out of place, he is evil. But Saturn Leo isn’t always “just misunderstood” - it also presents the depths of cowardice and moral compromise, insofar as the Leonine burden is mismanaged or neglected.
The Current Moment (Neptune Pisces + Pluto Capricorn)
EVERYTHING about the current moment is connected to the planets. Neptune is in Pisces: Thus the ceaseless wash and forgetting of the 24-hour news cycle, all-pervading surveillance, cancel culture, pseudo-moral busybodies, fun police, the world become a global village - all of this is Piscean.
Pisces is the Sign of virtue and the conscience. Self-overcoming. Since 2012, Neptune has been passing through it. Wherever Neptune sits determines what humanity collectively idealises. What it regards as fundamentally good. But it has so many facets... room for variation.
While Neptune determines what we idealise, the Sign through which Pluto is transiting determines what, ultimately, motivates us. In Capricorn, it is practicality and efficiency. It is getting things done and making one’s way through the world. Together with Pisces, Capricorn concerns itself with nothing other than what gets the job done. It is minimal, bland and homogeneous. It is the formless and near-nameless optimisation of Mixed Martial Arts. The eternal struggle of therapy culture. The bare-brick zen of Starbucks. Pisces is always concerned with stripping away what is unnecessary and false…
Capricorn is hustle, grind. Pisces is mindset, the power of belief - open, transient. Together they give us the gig economy, small businessmen on laptops, Etsy, Bandcamp, direct distribution online, drop-shipping and more. They give us the Person of Grindset, aged 28 to 40:
Culturally, Pisces and Capricorn give us the grotesque formless megachurch optimism of Hillsong. MMA, Crossfit - the whole regime of blandly optimised sports and homogenised corporate logos (this last one particularly since Uranus left Aries, Sign of individuality, after 2018)...
Globalist traditionalism, whether in the form of Christianity or Marxism - all this will pass away soon, or else mutate. Globalism is Piscean, Traditionalism is Capricornian. All this will begin to change next Spring, as Pluto leaves for Aquarius and Capricorn is empty for the first time in ~15 years.
