A Word on Planet in Sign Astrology
The action of a planet is influenced by:
Every planet which it Rules, and which they rule, and so on, and
Every planet which rules it, and so on.
Thus, Mars Taurus with Sun + Moon Scorpio is very different to Mars Taurus with Aries and Scorpio empty. Mars Taurus with Venus Capricorn is different to Mars Taurus with Venus Gemini.
Today we’ll be examining how the placement of Mercury shapes the expression of…
Mars Gemini
Mars Gemini will go to hell and back to find things out, and fight to present the truth once it’s collected its evidence. It wins by trickery, not so much by subtlety as by the intricacy of its plots. It wields reasoning and rhetoric, its native tongue the watertight argument. It fiddles excitedly, experimenting and finding things out for itself, flipping switches, making connections and breaking the ice. It is the foot in the door followed by the briefcase and the eager smile.
Examples
Jean-Jacques Rousseau, with Mars Gemini 10th, had a career full of controversial exchanges. Keen and aggressive argumentation (Mars Gemini) contributes to the legitimacy of an intellectual system (trine Jupiter Aquarius). With a sextile to Saturn Leo involving the Leo-Aquarius axis, he fought to defend the inherent dignity of man at large, and of men in particular - see his Confessions:
The writing is truly a phenomenon of genius, of simplicity, candor, and courage. How many giants reduced to dwarves! How many obscure but virtuous men restored to their rights and avenged against the wicked by the sole testimony of an honest man!
The testimony (Gemini) of an honest man (Leo) with regard to Figures in Society (Aquarius). Of course Rousseau was not perfect and many dispute his ideas… we may return to him in our study of Saturn Leo.
